About this video

Steve Belles was an All-State high school quarterback and then went on to play at Notre Dame. A member of the Irish National Championship team in 1988, he has become one of the most successful coaches in Arizona high school history. In this DVD, the second of a four set series, Coach Belles discusses Hamilton’s offense and more specifically, their play-action passing game.

In this DVD, you will learn from Coach Belles:

• Hamilton’s attacking the defense philosophy and not having the defense dictate the game’s tempo.
• The concept of knowing and controlling each situation.
• Playing with a plan with big play opportunities.
• Having the right personnel on the field at all times and making the proper substitutions.
• Making sure the booth is giving you the right information; that is, what fronts and coverages are the defense showing? How are they blitzing?
• The importance of faking in a play-action pass.
• How to demand greatness out of your athletes – anyone can be average.
• The importance of giving feedback to your athletes – good or bad – on the execution of the play-action pass.
• Explaining to your quarterback why he was successful or unsuccessful on specific plays.
• The reward for faking out the film guy.
• Monthly system of learning during the off-season including white board drills and then play action passing 7 on 7 competitions.
• The three different types of fakes.
• Video of Hamilton High School’s bread and butter play-action plays.
